It’s not easy to find an over-the-counter supplement that really does what it says on the label, so when you find one that delivers the needed results, you better stick with it!
That’s what many users of Kavinace Ultra PM have been doing for several years, then out of nowhere and without any prior notice, the manufacturer decides to pull the plug on what used to be one of their best-selling and most liked products!
You probably know by now that NeuroScience (the manufacturer of Kavinace) did not willingly discontinue this product, but had to after they received an official warning letter from the FDA regarding one of the ingredients in the supplement.
In short, the ingredient 4-amino-3-phenylbutyric acid HCl, which is commonly known as phenibut, does not meet the FDA’s criteria for a dietary ingredient, and adding it to a product labeled as a dietary supplement violates FDA’s guidelines.
But NeuroScience won’t leave their loyal customers stranded and sleepless for long, because it seems that relief has finally arrived with the release of the new, reformulated replacement supplement called Kavinace OS.
What is this new OS product and how does it compare to the old Ultra PM? This is a quick review and comparison of the two formulas.
The following are the active ingredients in each of the formulations:
Kavinace Ultra PM: Melatonin (3mg) + 4-amino-3-phenylbutyric acid HCl (phenibut) and 5-hydroxytryptophan (5-HTP) (proprietary blend).
Kavinace OS: Melatonin (5mg), Magnesium (25mg), Zinc (15mg), Selenium (200mcg) + L-theanine, Resveratrol and Astaxanthin (proprietary blend).
Kavinace Ultra PM was very effective as both a sleep aid and an anxiolytic (anxiety reducer). Its most powerful ingredient is phenibut (4-amino-3-phenylbutyric acid), which is a synthetic sedative and tranquilizing compound that is mainly used to reduce anxiety as it enhances the function of the inhibitory neurotransmitter GABA (phenibut is a phenylated analogue of GABA).
Kavinace OS is mostly effective as a sleep aid, and to a lesser degree as an anxiety reliever. Its most potent ingredient is melatonin: the sleep hormone. L-theanine is another potent ingredient, and this is a relaxing amino acid that is found in green tea and other plants.
Both formulations help promote restful sleep, however, Ultra PM had higher efficacy thanks to the very strong, pharmaceutical-grade anti-anxiety agent: phenibut.
The Side Effects
There are no major side effects associated with either of the two products. Both formulations are made of well-tolerated, generally-safe ingredients, however, personal experiences may vary.
One important safety note you should know about the old Ultra PM is that it may cause addiction. Most users had no idea, and were not warned that phenibut in Ultra PM is an addictive substance when consumed frequently.
Common withdrawal symptoms of phenibut include anxiety, agitation, depression, insomnia and brain fog.
So, Is OS Better Than Ultra PM?
The OS formula is safer as it only contains natural ingredients and doesn’t vigorously affect the brain’s chemical balance like phenibut in Ultra PM does.
OS may not be as effective as Ultra PM when it comes to keeping anxiety at bay, nevertheless, it is an efficacious sleep-promoting supplement that can be helpful for people with sleep problems.
Does it work for everyone? Well, no supplement does, and this is certainly no exception! There is mixed feedback about the new formula, but most reviews seem favorable so far.
Because sleep issues can be related to many different causes, it’s hard to tell which ingredient(s) in Ultra PM were most beneficial for you, and whether you will have the same positive experience with the new formula or not.
Where to Buy Kavinace OS?
This supplement comes in capsule and liquid (emulsion) form. More customers seem to have a better experience with the capsules. You can find both versions, alongside some users reviews at PureFormulas.
